Just short of €300,000 is going towards enhancing towns and villages in the midlands.
It's being distributed by the Department of Rural and Community Development to help rural areas adapt to the pandemic, including widening walkways and providing sheltered outdoor spaces.
€90,000 is going to Shannonbridge, along with a county-wide shopfront and covid capacity scheme in Offaly.
In Laois, Abbeyleix, Mountrath, Mountmellick and Portarlington are benefitting from €107,500.
And €100,000 is being split among Kinnegad, Moate, Castlepollard and Kilbeggan.
In total, 106 towns and villages will benefit from €2.8 million in the first round of funding, with an additional €10 million for towns and villages included in the July Stimulus Package.
