€95,000 is being allocated from the Carbon Tax Fund to a greenway project in the Midlands.
The joint plan involving Westmeath and Offaly County Councils is aimed at linking Athlone to Clonmacnoise.
It follows a seperate application to the Just Transition Fund for more long term projects by the Athlone to Clonmacnoise Greenway Group.
