It's a requirement under the 2019 Climate Action Bill for each local authority to designate a specific area for climate action and biodiversity measures, to help reach the overall national target to become carbon neutral by 2050.
The Zone must be an urban area of less than 5,000 persons or a rural area no more than 4 square kilometres.
People are invited to submit their ideas - with a final decision to be announced by June 30th.
