El Nino Officially Begins

Offaly's Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather Channel says the worst we can expect here is localised flooding.

El Nino has officially begun, and is predicted to be stronger than originally expected.

That could see temperatures of around one and a half degrees Celsius above average.

The phenomenon means a wet winter can be expected in Ireland, but we won't experience as extreme weather conditions as other parts of the world.
