The emergency department at the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar has reopened following a fire.
It occurred in an electrical panel this morning.
No one was injured and all patients who were in the department at the time have been moved to other areas in the hospital.
The hospital is asking the public not to attend the emergency department unless you have a life threatening injury or illness.
The National Ambulance Service were notified and were bypassing Regional Hospital Mullingar for emergency calls to other hospitals in Navan, Tullamore, Naas and Portlaoise.
