The incident took place on the R401 this morning.
A man has died after a crash involving a crane, and two vans in Offaly.
The incident took place around 6.15am on the Clonbullogue to Edenderry road near Drumcooly.
Gardaí say a crane being carried by a truck came loose, and struck two vans.
The driver of one of the vans, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
While the driver of the other van, a man in his 30s, has been brought to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore for non-life threatening injuries.
The road has reopened following examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has been notified and will conduct its own investigation.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6:00am and 6:30am on Wednesday morning, 27th August, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
