A Midlands MEP says the EU Commission is looking to "dodge" scrutiny when it comes to a major trade deal.
Nina Carberry believes the Commission wants to rail-road the Mercosur trade agreement by passing over national parliaments.
It will go to the 27 Commissioners today, who can then pass it with a qualified majority - which would be 15 of the 27 members.
The deal, announced last December, would allow for the import of 99,000 tonnes of beef from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay into the EU market every year.
