Almost 100,000 tonnes of South American beef would be imported under the agreement.
An EU trade deal has the potential to "destroy rural Ireland" according to the Irish Farmers Association President.
The Mercosur deal would see the European Union formalise a trade plan with Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
It's believed just under 100,000 tonnes of South American beef would be imported in the arrangement.
EU exports to the region were at €45b in 2021.
However IFA President, Ballinakill's Francie Gorman says there's no financial incentive that can justify the move:
