Prison Officer Brian Stack was shot in 1983.
The family of murdered prison officer Brian Stack is describing their meeting with the Justice Minister as "positive".
Brian Stack was the chief prison officer working on the IRA wing of Portlaoise Prison in 1983 when he was shot, and subsequently died one year later.
The family had requested that the Minister issue a State apology for the three Garda investigations that have taken place in relation to the murder, with 198 inadequacies found in the original investigation in a report to the Garda Commissioner in 2009.
Commissioner Drew Harris apologised in July 2019 following a meeting with the family.
Minister Jim O'Callaghan agreed to bring the families requests to government.
