The party made the decision during a selection convention in the county last night.
Fianna Fáil has selected its Laois candidate for the upcoming General Election.
Laois Offaly Deputy and Junior Foreign Affairs Minister, Sean Fleming, was chosen by the party at a selection convention in Portlaoise last night.
Deputy Fleming was first elected to a seat in the Dáil in 1997, and will contest the General Election in the Laois constituency, which is once again being split from Offaly for the next term.
He says while he remains hopeful, every election is a new battle:
