The ISPCA has rescued five severely neglected dogs from a home in Laois.
The animal charity says after numerous attempts to gain access to the house in Portlaoise last week, they were finally able to rescue the five Cavachon dogs with the help of Gardaí.
While an ISPCA Inspector says the dogs were living in grim conditions with badly matted coats, and irritated skin.
The rescue took place after they were alerted by a concerned member of the public - they're asking anyone who believes an animal may be in danger to contact the National Animal Cruelty Helpline.
