The Foreign Affairs committee sits this evening, chaired by former Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan.
The joint committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence, chaired by Laois/Offaly TD Charlie Flanagan, will discuss Afghanistan and the appointment of Katherine Zappone today.
Minister Simon Coveney will brief the fourteen members including local deputies Cathal Berry, Sorca Clarke and Barry Cowen.
It's expected he will give an update on the evacuation of Irish citizens from Kabul airport as well as the procedures undertaken before the selection of the UN special envoy role.
