A former Laois teacher has been fined €1,000 after striking her former colleague's car in a school car park.
41-year-old Jane Doherty from Knockanina, Mountrath pleaded guilty to a hit and run at Portlaoise District Court last week by failing to remain at the scene, according to the Irish Examiner.
The incident took place at half eleven on the morning of April 16th at the LOETB head office on the Mountrath Road in Portlaoise.
She struck the car which was stationary with no passengers, and drove off leaving none of her details at the scene.
Her defence solicitor said she'd brought compensation money to court for the injured party, and had been trying to rebuild her life since being suspended from her job.
