A former midlands Garda Sergeant says there are risks involved with chasing a car as a Garda.
This comes after five teenagers were killed in Athy last Sunday when their car, travelling in the wrong direction on the M9 motorway, collided with another vehicle.
Garda instructors are set to follow the English model of training, in which instructors must complete specialised driving courses lasting at least seven weeks, followed by lessons in tactical pursuit driving.
