Tony McCarroll lived in Kinnitty for two years as a child and spent many summers in Offaly as his parents had Irish connections.
He played the drums for the debut album 'Definitely Maybe' which sold over 8 million copies worldwide.
He will be returning to Kinnitty this weekend for a Q and A and to formally accept the plaque.
Mr McCarroll says it was unfortunate his parents decided to move back to the UK from Kinnitty:
