Four men were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
One person has been seriously injured following two house fires overnight in the midlands.
Five units of the fire brigade from Westmeath, Offaly and Galway tackled the blazes in the early hours of the morning.
The first fire broke out in the Willow Park Road area of Athlone around 2.30am.
One man is being treated in St. James' Hospital after suffering burns.
Three others were also injured in the incident and taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore for treatment.
Crews from Athlone and Ferbane attended the scene.
It's understood foul play is not suspected.
The second blaze, which Gardai are investigating as an incident of arson, started at a home in Manor Valley around the same time.
All the residents managed to evacuate the property before the fire brigade arrived.
Fire services from Ballinasloe were called to assist.
