A Midlands TD says he wants to see the drug Skyclarys made available in Ireland.
Campaigners for people with Friedreich’s Ataxia will march in Dublin this Sunday, calling on the HSE to fund the drug Skyclarys.
The treatment can slow progression of the rare neurological condition, which affects around 200 people in Ireland.
The demonstration comes two days before the HSE’s senior leadership team is due to make a final decision on reimbursement.
Longford Westmeath TD for Fine Gael Micheal Carrigy knows several families in the Midlands with the condition.
He says due process has to be followed but he wants to see something done:
