Fuel Industry Reps Warned Action Will Be Taken Over Pricing Malpractice

Enterprise Minister and Westmeath Longford TD Peter Burke will meet with energy representative bodies tomorrow. 

Representatives for the fuel industry are being warned action will be taken into any malpractice when it comes to pricing.

Costs are rising across the country, with the average price for 500 litres reaching € 761 on Wednesday over a 50% increase in under a week.

An investigation is underway by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission after concerns of price gouging, following a spike in the cost of fuel and home heating oil in recent days as a result of the war in Iran.
