A Laois TD is expressing concerns over the number of GPs available across the county.
According to the World Health Organization, the recommended ratio is one GP for every 1,000 people, with the ratio set at one GP for every 1,700 residents in Laois, with the figure dropping to one per 2,300 people in the southern part of the county.
Independent rep Brian Stanley is also highlighting problems regarding a single person earning more than €186 a week not being eligible for a medical card.
