A fundraiser has been set up to thank those who saved a Laois man's life earlier this year.
In January, 77 year old Patrick Carroll was seriously injured in a road accident in Abbeyleix, resulting in his leg being amputated.
But his son Tim says it could have been much worse were it not for the swift response of the local fire brigade, Portlaoise Hospital paramedics, the Irish Air Corp and St. James' Hospital.
Tim, his sister-in-law Fiona, and his friend Barry have set up a GoFundMe page and are taking on a physical challenge to raise 3,000 euro for the emergency services:
