A man in his early 20s has been killed in a serious crash in Westmeath.
A car and a jeep collided on the N4, at The Covert junction near Ballinafid at about 9.30 this morning.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to the mortuary at Mullingar Hospital.
He was one of three people in the car.
The driver's being treated in Mullingar Hospital, where his injuries are not though to be life-threatening, while the other passenger is in a serious condition at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
The driver of the SUV in his 60s is being treated for serious injuries in Tullamore Hospital.
The road has since reopened, following a technical examination of the scene.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to a fatal crash to come forward.
