It happened on the Portarlington Road outside Tullamore.
A man has died after a crash in Offaly.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after the single vehicle collision in Tullamore.
The incident took place at Ballina Cross, Annaharvey shortly before midnight last night.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a man aged in his 30s, was fatally injured.
The body of the man has been moved to the Mortuary in the Midlands Regional Hospital, in Tullamore for a post-mortem examination.
The R420 between Geashill and the Cloncollig Roundabout is closed for a technical examination.
Gardaí in Tullamore say local diversion will stay in place until 1pm this afternoon.
They're are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage and were travelling in the area between around 11:40pm and midnight are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
And anyone with any information on the incident is being asked to contact Tullamore Garda Station.
