Gardaí are investigating after a suspected explosive device was discovered at a home in the midlands.
Officers were called to reports of criminal damage at the house in Athlone this morning, at around 1.40am.
The Explosive Ordinance Team was called and the area was then cordoned off while an examination was carried out.
A number of items were also removed for a technical examination.
Gardaí are appealing to witnesses to the incident to come forward.
