The incident occurred early Sunday morning, and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
Gardaí are investigating an assault in Laois.
A man in his 40s was assaulted by a group of four people on Coote Street in Portlaoise at around 1.20am on Sunday morning.
He is currently being treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries at St. James Hospital in Dublin.
No arrests have been at this time.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the assault, who may have camera or dashcam footage, to come forward.
