Gardai in Carlow are investigating the unexplained death of a man in his 40s.

Gardai were alerted to a house at New Oak estate in Carlow Town at around 3.30am, after a man in his 40s was found unresponsive by emergency services.
He was treated at the scene but died a short time later.
The local Coroner has been notified and the scene is to be examined by local Gardai.
The man's body has been taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem will take place.
Gardai say the results will determine the course of their investigation.
