A sum of money was stolen from a post office this morning.
The getaway car used in an armed robbery in Offaly this morning has been found burnt out.
A sum of cash was stolen from Clara Post Office at about 9.30, after two men in balaclavas threatened staff with a firearm and a knife.
They fled the scene in a Silver Toyota Avensis, which was later found on fire on the Kilbeggan road on the outskirts of Clara.
It's understood they left from here in a dark-coloured hatchback.
Anyone who was in the area of the time is asked to contact gardaí.
