The government is defending its approach to school place provision in Offaly.
It comes as a Tullamore Mum has been highlighting her son's situation.
Amanda Rattigan wants her child to go to school in Colaiste Choilm but has been told it's "packed to capacity".
In a statement to Midlands 103, the Department of Education say they have a "strong forward planning function".
They also say that the Tullamore Killina School Planning Area has more first year places than graduating 6th class students in area.
