A Westmeath graduate saw her recruitment paused following her interview process.
The Government says the recruitment of midlands graduate nurses is subject to stricter controls, but there is no recruitment freeze in place.
This follows a Westmeath graduate’s discovery that despite completing the interview and panel process for a job at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore, her recruitment was being paused.
Rosemount’s Della Clarke is now considering pursuing employment opportunities with the UK’s National Health Service.
In a statement to Midlands 103, the Department of Health says there is "no recruitment embargo in the HSE" but acknowledged "strengthened controls" are in place in the region, to ensure appointments are affordable and properly prioritised.
It says one of the key priorties is filling vacancies which are being filled through sustained agency use.
Meanwhile, the HSE is acknowledging the uncertainty caused by the delay and says it is working to complete the necessary approvals, with contracts expected to be issued shortly.
