A local councillor fears someone will be killed before something is done.

A greater response to sulky racing is urgently needed in Laois.

Fine Gael councillor Aisling Moran says people are coming from as far as Dublin, Kildare and Waterford to race along the roads of south Laois.

She says with Abbeyleix being the closest major garda station, the groups are often dispersed before gardaí get to the scene.
