The popular resort is set for further expansion.
A midlands hotel has been given the greenlight for a major revamp.
Glasson Lakehouse has been granted planning permission by Westmeath County Council to add a range of upgrades.
Included in the development will be a two-storey gym, a 12 metre outdoor heated swimming pool, and a 197 square metre barbeque pavillion.
The facility will also see the addition of a new 57 square metre reception area, next to the car park.
An extension to the Lakehouse will also be constructed, to add seven new rooms, five of which will feature a set-back terrace.
A proposal for a five-bedroom, 428 square metre 'owner's house' were refused, on the grounds it would visually scar the landscape.
Permission for an animal farm has also been granted, as well as a range of refurbishments and alterations to the hotel.
Also included are plans for a children's play area and pond to the south of the hotel.
First floor hotel rooms will benefit from the addition of a balcony.
