As it stands, members of the public can only attend meetings in public.
A heated debate broke out among Laois councillors over the issue of livestreaming local authority meetings.
Independent rep Aisling Moran raised the issue, and says the public should have the option to watch proceedings online.
Currently, Laois County Council meetings are open to the public, but only in person.

However, Cathaoirleach of Laois County Council, Paschal McEvoy, says there's plenty of oversight already in the local authority, and there's no issues with transparency.
