The latest figures from the Department of Housing are due to be released today.

There's an expectation the number of people homeless will fall when figures are released this afternoon.

There are 13,514 people accessing emergency accommodation, according to latest figures from the Department of Housing.

The midlands saw a record number of people homeless in November, with 219.

Mike Allen is Director of Advocacy at the housing charity Focus Ireland.

He says the Government has to continue to provide a portion of social housing to those who are trapped in homelessness:
