Homelessness Figures In Midlands Remain Static

Department of Housing figures shows 222 adults used services in the region last November.

Homelessness in the Midlands is staying level, with 222 adults accessing emergency accommodation last November - just 2 more than in October.

New figures from the Department of Housing shows the figure stands at 73 in Westmeath, 72 in Offaly and 55 in Laois.

The largest age band using services are those aged 25 to 44, with just 120 people falling under that bracket , with 52 families and 111 children.

Nationally, 16,996 people were in homeless emergency accommodation up from 16,766 in October.
