A woman has been hospitalised with serious injuries after a dog attack in Carlow Town.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the attack at home in Ashfield, on the Blackbog Road this afternoon.
The incident resulted in a woman in her late 50s being air-lifted to the Mater Hospital in Dublin.
The dog, which is believed to be of a restricted breed, was euthanised by a vet at the scene.
That scene is currently preserved for a technical examination as Gardaí continue to make enquiries.
