Emergency services were called to the scene earlier.
A number of people were evacuated from their homes in Laois today, after a reported gas leak.
Portlaoise Fire Brigade was attended the scene in Kilminchy at about 12.30 this afternoon.
They secured the area and a Bord Gáis repair crew was called.
It's beleived the gas mains in the area were accidentally ruptured.
