A new report has found the average cost of a home in the midlands is over €250k.
It's expected there'll be a significant cooling of house price inflation next year.
The latest Irish Independent/ REA report shows the average cost of a home in the midlands is €255,000.
The average price of a three-bed semi-detached house in Westmeath in the fourth quarter of 2023 was €285,000, an increase of 1.8% on last quarter.
Prices remained stagnant in Laois, where the average home will set you back €260,000, while Offaly saw just under a 1% increase in Q4, with the price tag there being €220,000
Around the country, prices rose by 1%, with the average cost of a home being just over €300,000 in the final quarter of the year.
The REA expects the value of a three-bed semi-detached home will rise by no more than 3% in 2024.
