Housing Crisis Blamed For Fall In Irish Marriage Rates

Marriage numbers fell to just under 20,000 last year, about 2,500 fewer than the previous year.

The housing crisis is being blamed for a declining marriage rate. 

Last year, there were just under 20,000 marriages, around 2,500 fewer than 2022. 

According to the Irish Daily Mail, Bishop Denis Nulty, Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin and head of the Accord Catholic Marriage Care services, says the cost of housing is the "biggest obstacle" facing young couples.
