There's been a big drop in the number of new homes being delivered in Laois and Offaly.
There's been a significant decline in the amount of new homes being built in the midlands this summer.
The latest data from the Housing Department shows a 27% drop in commencement notices in July, when compared to the same time last year.
Last month saw just 13 new homes started in Offaly, down from 27 in 2024.
The figure in Laois for July is 26 compared to 52 the year previous.
While Westmeath bucked the midlands trend with 35 commencement notices issued over the course of last month, up from 23 last year.
