The government promised to provide free HRT to women from early this month.
HRT was 'never actually going to be a free scheme, it was going to be a subsidised scheme'.
That's according to Longford Westmeath Sinn Fein TD Sorca Clarke following the governments promise to provide free HRT to women from early this month.
Despite the €20m allocation in the budget women are still required to pay for it.
The Department Of Health is indicating the aim was to implement the scheme "as soon as possible" giving no definite timeline.
Ms Clarke says under the scheme the products will be free but the patient will still be required to pay a dispensing fee:
