A former prison governor says hundreds of extra Gardaí are needed to police Dublin's inner city.
Violent crime in the area remains in the spotlight, with another attack on a man, this time on Jervis Street, at around a quarter to twelve last night.
Up to 48 new Garda recruits will be allocated to the Dublin region in the next two weeks.
21 of those Gardaí are to be posted to the inner city.
