New figures show a divide in uptake between rural and urban areas.

Installing chargers in every house has been suggested as a way to encourage more people in rural areas to use an electric car.

EVs account for just 9% of total car sales in the midlands, according to new figures.

Offaly has the lowest uptake in the region, at 7%, while around one in every seven vehicles in the east of the country is an EV.
