Insurance Costs Continue Upward Trend Despite Reform Measures

The price of car insurance has risen by 20% in four year.

The cost of motor insurance continues to rise, despite widespread reforms of the sector. 

It now costs an average of €655 to insure a car, according to the Central Bank - a rise of almost 20% since 2022. 

85% of injury claims are now settled through the Personal Injuries Guidelines - while most claims are now related to damage.

The average cost of a damage claim increased by 10% in the first half of 2025, to over €3,100 euro.
