The man in his 70's needed to be taken to hospital after the incident.
Gardaí are continuing their investigation after a man in his late 70's was tied up by three mask men at his Westmeath home.
The pensioner was threatened by the men when he arrived home around lunchtime on Saturday 19th.
They stole his legally held firearm and left the scene in the man's jeep.
He managed to free himself and called the Gardaí,
He was taken to Mullingar Hospital for treatment.
