Both incidents have occurred in the last 24 hours.
Gardaí in the midlands are investigating two burglaries in a midlands town.
Both incidents occurred in Mountrath since 3pm yesterday afternoon.
The first of the burglaries occurred on the Shannon Road between 3.45pm and 7.30pm.
The side door was used to enter a house, which was found to be ransacked entirely when the owner returned home - it's uncertain if anything was taken from the house.
At around 5.30am this morning, 500 euro worth of green diesel was stolen from the Derrymore Stud after the front door to the office was broken to gain entry.
Multiple bags of feed and a wheelbarrow were also taken from the site.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to either of these incidents, particularly those with camera or dashcam, to come forward.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact Portlaoise Garda Station.
