Ireland Could Soon Operate Ferries Directly To EU Ports

It'd be to benefit exporters who wouldn't be forced through the UK.

A Fine Gael MEP is calling for new direct ferry services to EU ports so exporters aren't stuck in delays getting through the UK.

The Ireland South Rep, Sean Kelly, says this needs to happen before the end of the year, as waiting until January would be 'unwise.'

He believes there's a real chance that goods could get caught in tailbacks at the port of Dover despite the land-bridge agreement.

Mr. Kelly says it's vital that Irish exports leave the island from more than just one port too:
