Fianna Fáil's Austin Stacks says Ireland is a prime option for US companies due to language, cultural links and our location on the edge of Europe.
He is known as a campaigner for justice for his father who was shot by the IRA in 1983.
Mr Stack has previously served as Assistant Govnernor in the Irish Prison Service, as well as campaigning as part of the Portlaoise Hospital Action Committee.
