Ireland's beekeepers want to build a Centre of Excellence in the midlands.

The Sunday Times reports that the Federation of Irish Beekeepers Associations has had a virtual meeting with Fianna Fail TD and Offaly's Barry Cowen.

They're modelling the proposed facility on an existing one in Slovenia, which would facilitate educational programmes and tourism.

It comes alongside the recent Level 7 diploma in Apiculture, which is due to launch this Autumn in partnership with NUI Galway.
