The IWA say collectors should always have a letter of authorisation from the association.
The Irish Wheelchair Association are urging people to be vigilant of Bogus Collectors in the Midlands.
They have received reports of people with clipboards, selling lines.
The IWA is reminding the public that legitimate collectors will always have a letter of authorisation from the association, a garda permit, or a letter of permission from the supermarket where they are stationed and will be wearing a branded high-vis jacket and will have an IWA-branded bucket for donations.
If in doubt, individuals are encouraged to ask for proof of identification from collectors.
Any concerns should be reported to the local Garda station for further investigation.
