A Midlands MEP is adding his voice to those calling for a referendum on ending Ireland's triple lock policy on neutrality.
It comes after the European Parliament voted to increase the bloc's defence spending through a non-legislative resolution.
Ireland's triple lock ensures Irish troops will only be deployed once the move is mandated by the United Nations, approved by the Government; and it must be approved by Dáil Éireann by means of a resolution.
