The Attorney General has been given permission to pursue Mr Burke for fines already outstanding.
From today, Enoch Burke will be fined €1,400 for every day he shows up at Wilson’s Hospital School in Westmeath, in defiance of a High Court order.
Two years ago, a daily fine of €700 was imposed to compel him to obey the order, which was put in place after he was dismissed for gross misconduct.
Mr Justice David Nolan decided to double the fine after being told that Mr Burke has entered the school building on several occasions since the start of the year.
The Attorney General has also been given permission to seek the appointment of a receiver to his teaching salary to pay the outstanding fine, which is almost €80,000.
